The meaning of the Nahual

Nahual (or Nagual) is a concept from Mesoamerican indigenous cultures,

particularly within the traditions of the Maya and Aztec peoples. It refers to a

spiritual guide or animal companion believed to be connected to a person from

birth. This spiritual entity often takes the form of an animal, and it is thought to have

a deep connection to the individual’s personality, strengths, and destiny. Each day

has a Nahual, or guardian, whose purpose is to care for and nurture the essence of

human life. This guardian allows us to connect with the source of life, enabling us to

use this connection for our benefit. When we understand how to interpret the

Nahual’s guidance, we can effortlessly harness its power. As human beings, we

naturally flow in harmony with the rhythm of Q’a te’ ulew (Mother Nature), making

this connection seamless and part of our essence.

In the Mayan Cosmology, the Nahual protects and guides the person throughout

their life. The animal form of the Nahual is said to represent different qualities and

energies. For example, someone might have a jaguar as their Nahual, symbolizing

strength and leadership, while another person might have an owl, symbolizing

wisdom or foresight

• Please bring a fully charged phone to record the session, as well as a notebook

and pen for taking notes.
